Songs for a Southern Romance Posted by: Dan | 0 Comments

The warm nights. The sweaty dancing under the stars. And the pie. There’s always pie.

Is it just us, or do Southerners know a thing or two about romance?

From old-school Al Green to middle-school Tim McGraw to newer bands like Shovels and Rope, the Southern folk-rock genre is bursting at the seams with songs of love, longing and lounging on the couch in pajamas with your sweetheart. We might be partial, but we still think Southern singer-songwriters say it best.(Note: Not everyone on this list was born in the South, but they’ve captured the sound and the spirit, and that’s what counts in our book.)

So, here’s our list of sweet, sappy and quintessentially Southern romance tunes.
