Seersucker Bow Tie

Milk and sugar… what does it have to do with men’s ties? Well, it all goes back to the Persian words “shir o sheaker” which translates to “milk and sugar” describing the smooth but lumpy texture of the all cotton fabric we in the South have grown to love, seersucker.

For those of us living in humidity, the value of seersucker is without equal as the texture helps to hold the fabric away from the skin aiding in air circulation. An added bonus, you don’t have to iron seersucker, really, as it’s expected to be a bit wrinkled by nature. There are so many ways this seersucker bow tie can be tied and twisted, it would take a PhD in quantum calculus (!?) to come up with the total number of possible appearances.

Wedding? These would make excellent gifts for groomsmen or fun way to give your summer wedding a pop of Southern charm. Father’s Day? A twist on the traditional tie for dad…serve him a julep as he’s opening gifts and he’ll be in tall cotton. Let your friends borrow it for their dates on 5 consecutive Fridays, and it’s pretty much paid for itself.

100% cotton seersucker. Gorgeous. Daring.
