Captain’s Shandy

The Captain's Shandy was invented in the United States during Prohibition by a restaurant owner from Hollywood, Florida, who ran out of gin and needed to serve something with alcohol. The recipe for this drink appears in several books from the 1940s. The drink is a beer cocktail made with beer and lemonade, traditionally served in the US state of the Florida. The key lime juice and the rum complement each other, making this drink just as refreshing as it is intoxicating. Today, this drink is available at many bars in America and Canada where bartenders have been experimenting with their own versions of it.
