Vodka Sunrise

Vodka Sunrise is a cocktail with vodka, orange juice and grenadine syrup. It is typically served in a highball glass and garnished with an orange slice. It is similar to or may have been invented by the Tom Collins Cocktail. This drink became popular in the 1970s and 1980s, and some believe it may have been created in 1944 by Victor Morris of Trader Vic's restaurant in San Francisco, who made up new drinks for his patrons on request. The story goes that he was asked to create something for a patron who wanted both vodka and orange juice but did not want to mix them together because she thought the two would not taste well together.
