Aztec’s Mark

The Aztec's Mark is a sweet delicacy with some additional spice that was created by San Francisco bartender Neyah White at Nopa in San Francisco back in 2005 and discovered and popularized by Gaz Regan when he published an article in the San Francisco Chronicle about it in 2007. It is a potent and fiery cocktail that gets its name from the Aztec's who would drink it before going to battle. This recipe was first published in 1917 and is one of the original firewater cocktails.

Spirit Used

Ingredients

1 ½ ounce Bourbon whiskey
½ ounce White creme de cacao
¼ ounce Benedictine
1 tsp Hot red pepper sauce
Orange twist

Recipe

1. Stir with ice and strain into chilled cocktail glass.
2. Add orange twist.
3. Serve in a Cocktail Glass.
