Cable Car

Cable Car cocktail

Tony Abou-Ganim created Cable Car cocktail in 1996 at San Francisco’s Sir Francis Drake Hotel’s Starlight Room, a nightclub and cocktail bar. The pub is situated between the stars and the cable cars, since the Nob Hill cable trains pass right by it. It is a cocktail made with Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, Marie Brizard orange curaçao and fresh lemon sour mix (which is made with 2 parts fresh squeezed lemon juice and 1 part simple syrup).

Tony’s original 1996 recipe calls for Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, Marie Brizard orange curaçao, and fresh lemon sour mix.

Spirits Used:

½ tsp ground cinnamon, for garnish
3 tsp sugar, for garnish
1 lemon wedge, for garnish
½ ounce simple syrup
1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice

1. On a flat plate, mix the cinnamon and sugar together. Rub the juice of a lemon wedge around the rim of a cocktail glass and dip it into the cinnamon and sugar mixture. Set aside.
2. In a cocktail shaker, combine the simple syrup, lemon juice, orange curacao, and spiced rum.
3. Add ice and shake until chilled.
4. Strain the mixture into the prepared cocktail glass.
