Canyon Quake is a cocktail made with tequila, lime juice, agave nectar, and Aperol. It was created by famous mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim to commemorate the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake in the San Francisco Bay Area. The name comes from the Loma Prieta earthquake that caused a major freeway collapse and killed over 40 people in Oakland Hills.
The Canyon Quake is a new twist on an old favorite: the Margarita. This drink is more than just about commemorating an event. It’s about remembering where we came from and what makes our cities so great: diversity, innovation, and resilience. This is a smoothly mixed drink that has Irish cream and Amaretto almond liqueur. It combines the fruity sweetness of amaretto with the velvety smoothness of Irish cream.
¾ ounce Irish cream liqueur
¾ ounce Brandy
1 Ounce Amaretto
2 Ounce half-and-half
1. Process all ingredients with 1 cup crushed ice in blender until smooth.
2. Pour into large snifter.
3. Serve in a Brandy Snifter.
