Fancy-Free cocktail

The Fancy Free is first mentioned in Crosby Gaige’s 1940 Cocktail Guide and Ladies’ Companion. This cocktail is a whiskey cocktail that uses an orange bitter, maraschino liqueur, and angostura or other aromatic bitters. It is garnished with an orange twist.

Spirits Used:


2 ounce Bourbon whiskey
½ ounce Maraschino liqueur
½ tsp Angostura Bitters
½ tsp Orange Bitters


1. Stir with ice and strain into chilled cocktail glass.
2. Serve in a Cocktail Glass.
