Hemingway Daiquiri

The Hemingway Daiquiri is a cocktail made with rum, lime juice, grapefruit juice, maraschino liqueur, and sugar. It is one of the most well-known cocktails in the world. It was invented in Cuba by Constantino Ribalaigua Vert at El Floridita bar in Havana during Prohibition in the United States. The drink was named after Ernest Hemingway by another bartender at El Floridita who served it to him after he came into the bar to have a daiquiri with no sugar.

Spirit Used

Ingredients

2 ounce Light Rum
¾ ounce Grapefruit juice, preferably fresh
½ ounce Fresh Lime Juice
¼ ounce Maraschino liqueur

Recipe

1. Shake with ice and strain into ice-filled cocktail glass.
2. Serve in a Cocktail Glass.
