Jell-O-Shot is a mixed drink that has become popular to make and drink at home or in bars. The recipe for this cocktail was first published in “Riverbend Journal” in 1915 by Rex Beach. It is important to note that the Jello shot should not be confused with the Jello shot (a dessert) which includes gelatin as one of its main ingredients.
This cocktail is traditionally made by filling a small cup or glass with the gelatin mixture, then adding alcohol. The shot is then consumed quickly, usually in one swallow, before it has time to set into a gel.
3 ounces Jell-O or other flavored gelatin
8 ounces boiling water
4 ounces vodka or white rum
4 ounces cold water
1. In a medium bowl, stir together the Jell-O and boiling water until the Jell-O dissolves.
2. Add the vodka or rum and cold water, and stir to combine.
3. Pour 1 ounce of the mixture into each of the 16 shot glasses (small plastic or paper cups will also work) and chill until solid.
