The Melon Basil Smash cocktail was invented by Craig Schoer at the Bitter Bar in Seattle, WA and was first served in 2015. It is an alcoholic beverage cocktail made with gin, watermelon juice, basil leaves and lime juice. It’s simple yet refreshing, the perfect choice for the summer season.
½ ounce simple syrup
5-10 basil leaves
1 ounce lime juice
1 ounce Midori
2 ounces Gin
Basil leaves for garnish
1. In a mixing glass, muddle the simple syrup, basil leaves, lime juice, Midori, and gin.
2. Add ice and shake vigorously for about twenty seconds.
3. Strain the mixture into a chilled glass.
4. Top with basil leaves.
