Trinidad Rum Punch

Trinidad Rum Punch is a well-known cocktail in the Caribbean. It dates back to the 1800s and was introduced to Jamaica by Welshman Samuel Taylor in 1884. The recipe consists of three basic ingredients, rum, lime juice and grenadine. This drink is best known for its colourful appearance because of its red and yellow combination which represent the colours of the Jamaican flag.

Spirit Used

Ingredients

1 ½ ounces dark rum
1 ½ ounces lemon or lime juice
Fresh water or club soda (optional)
Splash of grenadine
1 tsp bitters

Recipe

1. Pour the ingredients into a chilled Collins glass over ice.
2. Top it off with grenadine and bitters and stir.
3. Garnish the drink with a lemon twist and grated nutmeg.
