Vodka Collins

The Vodka Collins is a classic cocktail that has been around since the 1800's. It originated in the United States and was originally called the Gin Cocktail. Legend has it that John Collins, a hotel owner from Philadelphia, invented it in 1868 for an English visitor who wanted something refreshing and not too strong. It is made by combining gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and club soda in a highball glass filled with ice cubes. The drink is typically garnished with a slice of lemon or lime and an olive or cherry.
