The Vodka Red Bull cocktail was invented by bartender Johnnie Shand Kydd for an Austrian company called Red Bull in 1987. He got the idea after he noticed that one of his regular customers at a pub near Salzburg airport was mixing vodka with Red Bull to stay awake during flights.
