A Zombie is a powerful cocktail that packs a punch. It has three different rums that are mixed with orange juice, passion fruit juice, and lime juice. It all started in 1934 when Donn Beach (aka Don the Beachcomber) first served his “Zombie” cocktail. Originally, this drink was made with four types of Jamaican rum, ingredients like pineapple juice and lime juice as well as other tropical fruits such as banana and grapefruit.
The name “Zombie” comes from this drink’s effects on those who drank it: one story goes that if you drank too many of these drinks, you would feel like a zombie for days afterward. The recipe for this popular cocktail has evolved over time and so has its popularity.
