This stunning pocket fish knife is a work of art that is built to last. It is handmade, hand-engraved, and hand-forged to the finest detail. Don't let the good looks fool you, this razor-sharp pocket knife has 176+ layers of high quality Damascus steel. Damascus steel was a type of steel used for manufacturing sword blades in the near East made with wootz steel originally imported from Southern India. These swords are characterized by distinctive patterns of banding and mottling reminiscent of flowing water. Such blades were reputed to be tough, resistant to shattering and capable of being honed to a sharp, resilient edge. This blade is hand-forged out of 11 stacked high carbon steel sheets. The stack is then heated and hammer forged. The heating and beating process is repeated 4 to 5 times to get 176 + layers of high quality Damascus steel. Each hammered blade is heated to 1560 degrees Fahrenheit then oil quenched and tempered to achieve its strength and hardness.
