Top 8 Southern Bands at SXSW 2013 Posted by: Amy Bowers | 0 Comments

The annual South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference in Austin, Tex., is one of the South’s most well-attended, buzz-worthy festivals attracting the most talented well known and newly-emerging musicians and filmmakers in the world. With more than 5,000 events happening March 8-17, we thought we’d offer a few of our top SXSW 2013 music choices, all hailing from south of the Mason Dixon, of course.

If you aren’t planning to make the journey to Austin this month, we’ve also included any regional tour dates for March.

Shakey Graves of Austin, Texas
You really can’t go wrong with fast guitar pickin’ and knee slaps. This one-man-show doesn’t hide behind effects or gimmicks; just good singing, strong lyrics and refreshingly-simple songwriting.
